Many brokers switch to an after-hours line for support from 5pm until 8am - we always have a broker on staff, at any hour of any day, who has discretion to make informed decisions on behalf of any shipment. This makes the difference for the customer, and of course for the carrier as well.
We don't have a secret for treating carriers well, it's simply a list of best practices which makes us stand out, allowing us the ability to always get a truck when needed.
